Your child draws at home — and then you're not sure what to do next

Parents usually come to us with one of these four questions.

"He draws all day long"

Paper, the margins of school notebooks, a tablet. It's clearly not random — but it's not clear where to take it next.

"I'm afraid she'll quit in a month"

There were clubs that got boring fast. Here every lesson ends with a finished artwork — the child has something to show, and a reason to come back.

"She says: I can't draw"

Almost everyone says that in their first lesson. Drawing is a skill, not a talent — and it can be taught step by step.

"We're thinking about art school"

We prepare children for the entrance exams at Jaņa Rozentāla Art School and other art institutions.

the honest result

The first lesson — and the same hand a year later

No other school in Riga shows this. We do: two artworks by the same child, the first one and one a few months later, no cherry-picking and no retouching.

simple, calm, in person

How does a lesson work?

The teacher sees every child and helps throughout the whole lesson.

…and every child leaves with a finished artwork to show off at home!

We meet today's topic

A new theme every week — the teacher shows what we'll draw and how.

01

We draw step by step

Children follow simple, clear steps — with individual help whenever it's needed.

02

We share and talk about the work

Everyone shows their finished piece and gets warm, encouraging feedback.

03
every child walks the same path

From first lines to a style of their own

Four levels, one clear route — with a certificate after every level your child gets to keep.

where this path leads

190 of our students built a life around art

In eight years we've taught more than 6000 children to draw. More than 190 of them went further: into Jaņa Rozentāla Art School, art colleges and design programmes — and some already work in illustration, animation and design.

Teenagers from 12 have a separate track: drawing, sketching, painting and composition in exactly the form the entrance exams ask for. The portfolio is put together with the teacher.

No child arrives here thinking "I want to get into art school". That thought shows up on its own — somewhere in the second year.

a new teacher joining

One more teacher from our team will be here — with a photo, their education and how they work with children.

How we choose our teachers

  • An art education and a portfolio of their own
  • Experience with children's groups, not only with adults
  • A trial lesson with children and a check of their method
  • An internship with an experienced teacher before taking a group
If your child doesn't click with a teacher, we move them to another group — no questions, no extra charge.

What parents say about us

Real reviews from our lessons — parents photographed their young artists and sent us these words.

"My daughter Michelle (12) is in her third year with NP Drawing. The teachers are skilled, kind and love what they do — she flies to every lesson and comes home delighted. We already have a whole gallery of drawings at home. Special thanks to Nikita for his patience and the warm atmosphere."

Michelle's mumwith the studio for 3 years

"Our daughters love drawing here — they've been learning for over a year. Lessons are easy to follow, clear and interesting. An unexpected bonus: their handwriting became neater, because these techniques really train the hand!"

Mum of two sisterswith the studio over a year

"We've been coming to Nikita for almost a year. Every week our son counts the days to his lesson — for him it's a holiday: 'Hooray, drawing day!' Each class is a little adventure. Huge thanks."

A student's mumalmost a year with us

"NP Drawing means professionalism, positivity and creativity. We are so grateful to the studio for growing a real love of drawing in children — along with skill, craft and confidence in their own abilities. Thank you, team!"

Parents of a studentdrawing classes

"I love the studio, because after every single lesson I go home with a finished picture — one I would never have drawn on my own! Nikita shows and explains everything really clearly. I recommend it to everyone! 🔥💪"

Why should every child learn to draw?

DRAWING DEVELOPS:
[01]

Fine motor skills

Every line is a tiny workout for fingers, hand and eye working together — the same precision children need for neat handwriting.

[02]

A sense of taste and style

Children learn to see how colours and compositions work — a trained eye that stays with them for life.

[03]

Creative thinking

Imagining something first, then making it real — a habit every drawing builds, and a skill the future rewards.

Questions parents ask

Can't find your answer? Write to us at npdrawing.info@gmail.com or on WhatsApp — we're happy to help.

What age is this for? +

Ages 6 to 17. Groups are formed by age: 6–8, 9–11, 12–14 and 15–17, so every child is with peers.

What language are the lessons in? +

There are both Latvian and Russian groups. You choose the language in the form and we suggest a group where your child will be comfortable.

What happens during the trial lesson? +

A normal 60-minute lesson in a real group: the teacher guides the children step by step through the whole piece. Your child leaves with a finished drawing and you get the teacher's feedback.

Is the first lesson really free? +

Yes. No prepayment and no commitment. If it's not for you, you simply don't continue — and we won't ring you with offers.

What materials should we bring? +

None. Paper, pencils, watercolour, gouache, brushes and an apron are in the studio and included in the price.

How many children are in a group? +

No more than 8. It's the most important number here: the teacher gets to each child several times in one lesson.

My child says they can't draw. Is this for them? +

They're exactly who this is for. Almost every child says it in the first lesson. We teach drawing as a skill — step by step, with no requirement to "be talented".

What if we miss a lesson? +

A missed lesson can be made up in another group the same week — just let us know in advance.

Do you prepare children for art school entrance exams? +

Yes. From age 12 there's a separate track for Jaņa Rozentāla Art School and other art institutions: drawing, sketching, painting, composition and the portfolio.

Can I stay in the lesson with my child? +

For the first few times, yes, if that helps your child settle. There's also a place in the studio where parents can wait.
